 Welcome to Utrecht!

My name is Sophie Maarleveld. I will be the President of ESN Utrecht this academic year (2012-2013). The ESN president has the honor to welcome all the new international students at the orientation days, so you might have seen me there.  All the board members of ESN Utrecht are students and volunteers. We have a lot of fun being the ESN Utrecht board. But sometimes we need to get serious and talk about all the activities we organize for you, what is going on in the world of ESN and what we want to achieve this year. It’s my job to make sure that the board is keeping up the good work. As the president I am responsible for external contacts and the policy of ESN Utrecht. 

ESN Utrecht organizes all kind of activities for you to make sure you have a good time in Utrecht, meet other international and Dutch students and learn about our great Dutch culture. You can have a good time in Utrecht by joining us for the ESN Night at Club Poema and the international kitchen. Although Utrecht is the most beautiful city of the Netherlands, ESN will also organize trips to other cities. We are very proud Dutchies and are looking forward to show you around our little country during our Discover Holland Weekend. As board members we have the privilege to join you during the activities, we like to go along with you discovering Utrecht and on touring around the Netherlands. That’s why you will see me and the rest of the board a lot this semester.  Hopefully you don’t mind!

I got involved with ESN Utrecht after my exchange to Canada two years ago. I became member of the culture committee and that made me enthusiastic about ESN Utrecht. I am a Master student in Strategic Human Resource Management. This board year is a great experience, a lot of fun and a great way to meet all the international students in Utrecht.
