Where to go when I feel overwhelmed?
ESN Utrecht has assigned two people who are there to assist, inform, guide, and support you whenever you encounter any problems that you want to discuss with them. If you ever feel the need to talk to someone about personal or confidential matters, you can always reach out to the ESN Utrecht confidant Annelot Bulten via partnership@esn-utrecht.nl.
If you feel more comfortable talking to someone outside of the Executive Board, you can reach out to our confidential advisor Carlijn Verhagen. You can contact her about anything that you do not want to discuss with any of the board members by emailing to confidential.advisor@esn-utrecht.nl.
Both the confidant and the confidential advisor can be reached by anyone involved in the ESN Utrecht network, meaning they are the point of contact for both volunteers as well as other ESNcard holders. Click on Health and Wellbeing for more information.
Is ESN Utrecht only for exchange students?
No! All international students stuyding at one of the six Higher Education Institutes: Utrecht University, HU University of Applied Sciences, HKU University of the Arts, University of Humanistic Studies, Marnix Academy or Tio University of Applied Sciences can buy an ESNcard.
In other words, it does not matter whether you are doing an exchange for one or two semesters, a full bachelor program, a full master program, an internship or whether you are a PhD student. As an international you can join on a non-binding basis or as a volunteer of one of our committees.
As a Dutch student you can join ESN Utrecht as well, albeit only as either a volunteer, mentor or part of our Dutch Languague Course.
How do I get involved/active within ESN?
With an ESNcard (€6,-) you can buy tickets for all our events. You can buy the card at our ticketshop. After your payment, you have to pick up the physical card at our office. The address of our office is Princetonplein 9, 3584 CC Utrecht. We are open on every weekday except for Saturday and Sunday. At the bottom of this page you can find our opening hours.
You can also become active in one of our 11 committees. These committees have different responsibilities. Some organize activities, others keep internationals up to date, promote ESN or keep the overview of the organisation. Committees start their work at the beginning of each academic year. However, we start looking for committee members at the end of the previous academic year. Sometimes spots open after one semester; keep an eye on our Facebook page if you are interested in this!
Do I get an email after registration for an ESNcard?
After you order an ESNcard online, you will receive an email with the QR code of your card. The email subject line starts with "[ESNcard ESN Utrecht] Your order". If you have not received an email within 24 hours, check your spam inbox and other mail folders like ‘social’ or ‘promotion.’ You only need this QR code once and that is when you want to pick up your your ESNcard at our office.
If you cannot find the email of your ESNcard code there, please send an email to info@esn-utrecht.nl.
I lost my ESNcard, what should I do?
No worries! You can come to the ESN office during office hours. For €1,50 you will receive a new ESNcard.
Just make sure that you have a new one before the next activity!
